Coming Soon: "The Immortal Murders"!

For this year's summer reading program, we are once again hosting a murder mystery party! This one is entitled "The Immortal Murders", taking place at a gathering of Weres, Vampires, Fae, Mages, and mortal watchers. If you are interested in taking part, please send an email to emthelibrarian@gmail.com .

If you know someone who doesn't have an email address but still wants to participate, never fear! They can sign up at the desk, or at the first summer reading meeting.

You can help us fill in our manga collection!

As many of you know, we're missing a great deal of our manga collection due to theft (if the book has been lost and paid for, we reorder). How can you help? Well, we're talking about possibly putting the duplicate volumes we've got up for trade. In exchange for a volume we're missing (it doesn't have to be our copy, just a copy of the manga*) we'll give you one of our extra volumes. If you're interested, come talk to either Carol or myself.

Great News!

We received the Funimation packet in the mail yesterday, complete with 20 starter packs of the new Full Metal Alchemist trading card game. They've given us an instruction sheet too.. anyone interested in a FMA-TCG game night?

Speaking of Funimation: Anime night is Tuesday! Don't forget!

And now for cool game night news, we're adding two extra game nights, starting in May. Game nights will be on the first, second and fourth Thursday of the month. (May 4th, May 11th, May 25th) Anime night will continue to be on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Also, the library Myspace account has been approved. Stay tuned for more details!

Coming soon to a library near you...

Pirate Night!! Yes, you heard right. On May 18th, from 6-8, Pirates will be invading the library basement. There will be skits, songs, and people dressed in funny clothes. Arrr.

The Anime chosen for the summer reading program was Cowboy Bebop, Inu Yasha, Ah! My Goddess, and Spirited Away.

Other ideas for programs were Music Night, Yoga Night, and a Superhero party (wear your superhero costume, special powers optional.) If enough people are interested, we will consider adding a Thursday program in addition to the Game Night and Anime Night Tuesdays.

For poetry night we are planning to do a short reader's theatre piece. If you are interested in a part (no memorization required) please talk to either Carol or myself. We still have four parts available!

Don't forget, Tuesday is Game Night (with the return of DDR!) and April 18th is Poetry Night! Bring a friend!

Important Meeting!

Next Thursday, April 6th, we will be having a planning meeting to discuss how we are going to run the Anime program over the summer. If you've got Anime you would like to share, now is your time to do just that! Bring what you'd like to show, and we'll work on getting a schedule together so I can request the rights to show them!

Don't forget: Next Tuesday will be our second Anime Night! From 6-8 we will be in the basement watching Case Closed, Fruits Basket, and UFO Princess Valkyrie!

The Summer Reading Discussion Group will be reading Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes. More details as we get closer to the summer!

Also, new Comics this week are Marvel's "House of M". This series of books features a storyline that spans the entire Marvel universe: X-men, Fantastic Four, and the Incredible Hulk!

Anime Night!

Anime night was a total sucess! A huge thank you to those who recruited friends to come, or put up posters for us. A good time was had by all, but it isn't quite over yet. Make sure to fill out the February survey over at ADV films. The survey can be found here. Your group is, of course, "YA Zoo".

Okay guys, Funimation is your new best friend. No really. The packet we received today with the Fruits Basket vol. 1 DVD is stuffed with all sorts of cool things: postcards, posters, and a couple of sampler DVDs. We'll see you all next Tuesday! (Or this afternoon, if you're on the Zoo Board.)

Our very first Anime packet came in the mail today, through Central Park Media's Anime University program. The DVD sampler has an episode of Amored Trooper Votoms, plus trailers for Central Park Media's 2006 releases. Stay tuned for more info!
